Wir wollen mehr sein als ein Festival, eine Zusammenkunft, eine Convention! Internationale Künstler, Labels und natürlich Ihr, die diese Musik liebt, lebt und atmet, kommen einmal im Jahr in Dresden zusammen und feiern ein paar Stunden gemeinsam ab. Cold Wave, Post Punk, Synth Wave und andere ähnliche Genres sind vertreten - alles was das kalte, musikalische Herz begehrt! Nach der fulminanten Premiere im letzten Jahr geht dieser besondere Event in die 2. Runde!
COLD HEARTED Festival - what does it mean?
We want to be more than a festival, a gathering, a convention! International artists, labels and of course you, who love, live and breathe this music, come together once a year in Dresden and party together for a few hours. Cold Wave, Post Punk, Synth Wave and other similar genres are represented - everything the cold, musical heart desires! After the great premiere last year, this special event goes now into the 2nd round!

Turkish post-punk duo SHE PAST AWAY, consisting of Volkan Caner (vocals, guitars and songwriting) and Doruk Ozturkcan (drums, synthesizers and production), established themselves as one of the most influential and successful genre-defining acts in dark wave music in the last years. Bis 2020 hat das Duo um Kevin Czarnik (auch bekannt für seine Projekte Milliken Chamber, Prudence and Belladonna Grave) und Samantha Kubiak drei Alben veröffentlicht: „Autumn Calling“, „Alabaster Chamber“ und „Departed“. Das neue Album „Sympathy Garden“ entstand zu Beginn des Lockdowns und wurde im letzten Jahr verfeinert. Die Sopranistin Anna Schmidt hat beim letzten Album ebenfalls mitgewirkt und performt live mit. FOREVER GREY schaffen es, einen düsteren und atmosphärischen Sound zu kreieren, der unter die Haut geht. American dark wave / cold wave band FOREVER GREY was formed in Los Angeles, California in late 2014. Until 2020, the duo around Kevin Czarnik (also known for his projects Milliken Chamber, Prudence and Belladonna Grave) and Samantha Kubiak has released three albums: "Autumn Calling", "Alabaster Chamber" and "Departed". The new album, "Sympathy Garden," was written at the beginning of the lockdown and has been refined over the past year. Soprano Anna Schmidt also participated in the last album and performs live. KONTRAVOID's masked mystique has remained for over a decade. Die in Stuttgart gegründete Cold-Wave / Synth-Wave Band DIE SELEKTION entstand Ende 2010 aus dem experimentellen Post-Punk-Projekt L U C ▲. Durch Wechsel in der Besetzung hatte sich die musikalische Ausrichtung so verändert, dass man sich entschloss, eine neue Band zu gründen. Neben Gillian, dessen musikalische Wurzeln im Wave und Neofolk liegen, bestand die Band aus dem klassisch ausgebildeten Trompeter Hannes Rief, der auch in einem Orchester spielte und Max Rieger (später ersetzt durch Samuel Savenberg), der eher vom Techno beeinflusst wurde. Aus diesen unterschiedlichen Ausrichtungen und den Einflüssen von EBM und Synthiepop der 1980er Jahre entstand ein tanzbarer, melancholischer Stil, mit schnellen Beats, schneidenden Basslinien, düsteren unterkühlten Synth-Layers, untermalt durch die Kälte und Dominanz der deutschen Texte – und, das Letzte, das man erwarten würde: eine Trompete. Diese absolute Genialität führt nur zu einer einzigen Frage: Warum hat das vorher noch niemand gemacht?
The cold-wave / synth-wave band DIE SELEKTION, formed in Stuttgart, Germany, emerged from the experimental post-punk project L U C ▲ at the end of 2010. Due to changes in the line-up, the musical direction had changed so much that it was decided to form a new band. Besides Gillian, whose musical roots lie in wave and neo-folk, the band consisted of the classically trained trumpeter Hannes Rief, who also played in an orchestra, and Max Rieger (later replaced by Samuel Savenberg), who was more influenced by techno. From these different orientations and the influences of EBM and synthpop of the 1980s a danceable, melancholic style, with fast beats, cutting bass lines, gloomy undercooled synth layers arose, underpinned by the coldness and dominance of the German lyrics - and, the last thing you would expect: a trumpet. This absolute genius leads to only one question: why hasn't anyone done this before?

Die Electro- und Dark-Wave-Kultband AGENT SIDE GRINDER wurde 2005 in Stockholm, Schweden gegründet. Ihre ersten beiden Alben, "Agent Side Grinder" (2008) und "Irish Recording Tape" (2009) waren stark im Post-Punk, Industrial und Dark Electro verwurzelt, woraufhin sich die Band schnell einen Namen im Underground in ganz Europa machte. Ihr drittes Album "Hardware" (2012) zeichnete sich durch einen größeren und strukturierteren Sound aus, was der Band international viel Anerkennung und Auszeichnungen brachte. 2015 folgte mit “Alkimia”, ein dramatisches und melodisches Album, das den Erfolg noch mal toppte und AGENT SIDE GRINDER zu einer der führendsten Synth-Wave-Bands in Europa machte. Neben vielen Europa-Tourneen und Festivalauftritten, u.a. auf dem M'era Luna Festival oder Wave-Gotik Treffen, waren sie Vorband bei Suicide und Laibach und arbeiteten mit Künstlern wie Dirk Ivens, Kite und Henric de la Cour zusammen. Ihr neues Album „Jack Vegas“ mit der vorausgegangenen Single „Waiting Room“ wurde Anfang 2023 veröffentlicht. Electro and dark wave cult band AGENT SIDE GRINDER was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2005. Their first two albums, "Agent Side Grinder" (2008) and "Irish Recording Tape" (2009) were strongly rooted in post-punk, industrial and dark electro, after which the band quickly made a name for themselves in the underground throughout Europe. Their third album "Hardware" (2012) was characterized by a bigger and more structured sound, which brought the band a lot of international recognition and awards. In 2015 they followed with "Alkimia", a dramatic and melodic album that even topped the success and made AGENT SIDE GRINDER one of the leading synth-wave bands in Europe. In addition to many European tours and festival appearances, e.g. at the M'era Luna Festival or Wave-Gotik Treffen, they were the opening act for Suicide and Laibach and collaborated with artists like Dirk Ivens, Kite and Henric de la Cour. Die russische Post-Punk / New-Wave-Band PLOHO wurde 2013 in Novosibirsk von Sänger und Gitarrist Victor Uzhakov gegründet, der Andrei Smorgonsky am Bass und Igor Starshinov am Synth dazugewinnen konnte. Die Musik sowie die Texte von PLOHO sind durch die Ästhetik und den Sound sowjetischer Bands der späten 1980er und frühen 1990er-Jahre beeinflusst. PLOHO haben sich in ihrer Heimat Russland zu einem bekannten Namen entwickelt und eine engagierte Fangemeinde in Europa und im Ausland aufgebaut. Das Trio ist einer der prominentesten Vertreter der neu getauften „New Wave of Russian Music“, auch bekannt als „Russian Doomer“, und schafft eine dunkle und fesselnde Mischung aus melancholischem Rock, postsowjetischem Post-Punk, Synth-Wave und New-Wave. Die überwiegend düsteren Songs reflektieren die Kälte und Einsamkeit in der industriellen Metropole, die Tristesse des rauen und kalten Alltags in Sibirien sowie das Aufwachsen inmitten von Kriminalität und Chaos. Getragen von der düsteren Leadgitarre und dem ansteckenden Baritongesang von Uzhakov, werden die deprimierenden aber wundervollen Melodien mit perfekt abgestimmten Synthies und Drums bereichert. Im Februar 2022 begannen PLOHO mit der Aufnahme ihres letzten Albums „When the soul sleeps“, welches durch den Einmarsch der russischen Truppen in die Ukraine und deren tragischen Folgen stark beeinflusst wurde. Als Ende letzten Sommer das Album, auf dem Viktor seinen Emotionen und Ängsten um seine ukrainischen Freunden Ausdruck verlieh, fertiggestellt wurde, verließ die Band Russland und wanderte nach Belgrad, Serbien aus. Der kleine Bruder von Molchat Doma – elektrisierend!!!
Russian post-punk / new wave band PLOHO was formed in 2013 in Novosibirsk by vocalist and guitarist Victor Uzhakov, who was joined by Andrei Smorgonsky on bass and Igor Starshinov on synth. PLOHO's music as well as the lyrics are influenced by the aesthetics and sound of Soviet bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s. PLOHO have become a famous name in their home country Russia and have built a dedicated fan base in Europe and abroad. The trio is one of the most prominent representatives of the newly created "New Wave of Russian Music," also known as "Russian Doomers," creating a dark and captivating blend of melancholic rock, post-Soviet post-punk, synth-wave and new-wave. The mainly dark songs reflect the cold and loneliness in the industrial metropolis, the tristesse of the harsh and cold everyday life in Siberia and growing up among crime and chaos. Carried by the gloomy lead guitar and infectious baritone vocals of Uzhakov, the depressing but wonderful melodies are enriched with perfectly tuned synths and drums. In February 2022, PLOHO began recording their latest album, "When the soul sleeps," which was heavily influenced by the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine and its tragic aftermath. When the album, on which Viktor expressed his emotions and fears for his Ukrainian friends, was finished at the end of last summer, the band left Russia and emigrated to Belgrade, Serbia. Their great album "Abscence" is an electronic cocktail of dark cold-wave and melodic danceable synth-pop. Both were members of the minimal-wave band Prudence. Kevin Czarnik is also successfully touring with Forever Grey and recently released a new album with his synth project Belladonna Grave. Anna Schmidt is a classically trained soprano and devotes herself to the more somber and experimental soundscapes with her solo project Jane Chain.
